Today’s Law Enforcement SWAT teams are used to resolve many different incidents. SWAT/SRT/ERT teams must know the different entries and strategies used to resolve these incidents. This course will focus on the three most common situations: warrant service, barricaded suspect, and hostage rescue. The course is designed for officers who are already assigned to a Special Response Team. Students conducting the training will be required to dress out in their tactical gear. A gear list is provided below. Students should have a primary weapon (subgun or carbine) and a secondary weapon (pistol). If you are only issued a handgun, you can still participate in the course. Topics covered during this course include the following:
Ammunition Requirements: 500 rounds of primary weapon ammo, 300 rounds of secondary weapon ammo. If you are only going to bring a pistol, bring 800 rounds of ammo. If your primary weapon is a carbine, you MUST shoot frangible ammunition. Frangible ammunition can be purchased from HIS USANA with prior coordination.
Gear List: Primary weapon (carbine or subgun) with three magazines, primary weapon sling, secondary weapon with three magazines, magazine pouches for both primary and secondary magazines, clear wraparound eye protection, ear protection, belt, holster, ballistic vest, ballistic helmet, tactical vest, weapon-mounted flashlight (optional), gloves, gas mask, water bottle, rain gear, and weapons cleaning kit.
